CORE PRINCIPLES

WHAT IS PSYCHODYNAMIC (INSIGHT-ORIENTED) THERAPY?

Create the improvement you want to see in your life

Insight-Oriented Therapy is based on the belief that through increased consciousness we can create new life experiences. This therapeutic process involves the therapist and client exploring and gaining a better understanding of how feelings, beliefs, actions, and events from the past may be influencing our current mindset and circumstances. The goal of Insight-Oriented Therapy is to empower you with a sense of clarity so that you have the freedom to make new, adaptive, and healthier choices that support your continuing growth.

Rooted in psychoanalysis, Psychodynamic Therapy draws from object relations, ego psychology, and self psychology. It was developed as a less intensive alternative to traditional psychoanalysis. Psychodynamic Therapy helps clients address the foundation and formation of their psychological processes.

What does psychodynamic therapy look like?

Psychodynamic therapy is an in-depth form of talk therapy

Clients are encouraged to share their pain points, challenges, fears, needs, and wants. Therapists work with clients to help them identify, acknowledge, express and overcome negative emotions that may cause distress. By being open and vulnerable, clients are able to access feelings that may have been pushed out of their own conscious awareness.

Once these vulnerable or negative feelings are processed, defense mechanisms are reduced or eliminated. Clients gain knowledge and understanding about past experiences and are able to take on future challenges with newfound confidence.
