Our Commitment to Inclusion & Belonging
A Declaration of Humanity
At Clarity, inclusion is a commitment to honoring the shared humanity that connects us all. Every person deserves to be seen, valued, and treated with dignity.
As therapists, we understand that feeling truly understood is essential to mental health. The world can be isolating, unjust, and painful, but healing begins in spaces where people feel safe to be themselves. Our practice is built on that foundation. We strive to cultivate an environment where diversity is not just accepted but celebrated. Where differences in identity, race, culture, gender, sexuality, age, ability, and background are honored as integral parts of the human experience.
We acknowledge that bias and exclusion have caused deep wounds in our society. We also recognize that true inclusion means holding space for difficult conversations, confronting our own assumptions, and holding space for others so that clients, colleagues, and community members can feel safe and a sense of belonging. This work is not about perfection, but presence. It’s about showing up, listening, and creating change through compassionate action.
A Living Commitment to Diversity & Equity
Diversity is not an abstract ideal, but a practice. We are dedicated to:
-
-
Facilitating Access to Care: Mental health support should not be a luxury. Through our internal and external referral network, which includes sliding scale services and pro bono offerings, and our therapist-matching questionnaire, we actively work to make therapy more accessible to those who need it most.
-
Inclusive Representation: Our team reflects the vibrant diversity of New York City. Many of our therapists and partners identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, and people with diverse cultural backgrounds. We are committed to continuing to expand that representation.
-
Ongoing Learning & Growth: Bias is not eliminated through statements, but dismantled through education, self-reflection, and accountability. We engage in continuing education, consultation, and meaningful dialogue to ensure our practice remains a place of safety, respect, and growth.
-
Creating Safe Spaces for Expression: Every person’s lived experience is unique. We provide therapy that affirms all identities, respects cultural differences, and acknowledges the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, disability, and socio-economic background, as well as nameless others.
-
Promoting Social & Emotional Justice: The systems that shape our world impact mental health. We advocate for policies and practices that support equity, safety, and dignity for all people, recognizing that individual healing is deeply connected to collective healing.
-
The Right to Be Seen & Heard
We believe in the right to safety, dignity, and self-expression for all. Our commitment to diversity extends to:
-
-
-
Racial & Ethnic Equity: We acknowledge the history and present realities of racial injustice and stand for a world where all people, regardless of race or ethnicity, are treated with fairness, respect, and humanity.
-
LGBTQIA+ Inclusion: Every person has the right to love, live, work, and express themselves freely. We are dedicated to providing LGBTQ+ Affirmative care and advocating for the rights of all gender and sexual identities.
-
Gender Equity & Women’s Rights: No person should be limited by gender-based discrimination. We support equal access to opportunities, safety from violence, and the right of all individuals to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures.
-
Immigration & Human Rights: No one should live in fear of separation, violence, or bigotry. We support policies and practices that honor the dignity and safety of immigrants and their families.
-
Neurodiversity & Disability Rights: Mental health care must include and support neurodivergent individuals and those with disabilities. We commit to fostering a therapeutic environment that is accommodating, understanding, and affirming of all ways of being.
-
Honoring Vulnerable Populations: Children, the elderly, and the unhoused deserve protection from neglect, exploitation, and systemic harm. We are committed to considering these issues with care and advocacy.
-
-
Bridging Awareness & Action
We understand that awareness without action is empty. That’s why we:
-
-
Partner with organizations that promote diversity, inclusion, and mental wellness for all communities.
-
Encourage our partners to engage in ongoing supervision and training in cultural intersectionality.
-
Provide or refer to financial accessibility to care for underserved communities.
-
Actively listen to feedback from our clients and colleagues to improve inclusivity in our practice.
-
This is not about political correctness. It’s about human dignity. It’s about creating spaces where people feel safe to heal, to speak, and to be heard. It is about the courage to engage with discomfort, to challenge our assumptions, and to strive to do better. We do so out of love and responsibility to one another.
We are all in process. Healing is a process. Inclusion is a process. And we remain committed to doing this work together.
Join Us
We invite you to join us in fostering an inclusive, compassionate, and aware community. Whether through meaningful conversations, advocacy, or simply making space to listen, every effort matters. Let’s move forward not in division, but in unity.
